We are delighted to announce that a limited number of copies of the famous and unique YAM publication “Ferry Pilots Notes” is once more available. It has been a major job to reset the printing plates for this detailed reproduction of the aircraft flying instruction notes that were handed to the Air Transport Auixiliary pilots, as originally given to the Museum by legendary ATA pilot, Lettice Curtis, who was the first woman to fly a four engine heavy bomber. She actualy flew the Coastal Command Halifax MkII HR 792, upon which our rebuilt Halifax is based.
It is incredible to think that these civilian pilots were simply given a booklet of notes on how to fly various aircraft and this was certainly in the first instance, the only training they received! It took nerves of steel to simply get in an aeroplane and follow the notes to fly it.
Orders on our waiting list for this eagerly anticipated reprint have now been issued, so don’t delay in getting your copy!! The book retails at £25 plus postage and can be ordered online here or by contacting our Shop on 01904 608719 to make a purchase.
