Vintage Props Family Day at The Museum
28th July 2019
Join us this Sunday for Vintage Props Family Day. It’s going to be a great opportunity to enjoy classic motorcycles, classic aircraft and a Battle of Britain Flight Hurricane flypast.
* Don’t forget to dress up on your favourite vintage outfit or Allied uniform, we will be watching for your cool outfits.
Admission Prices Are £28 Family pass for Two Adults and up to Three Children £12 Adult | £5 Children 5-15 | Under Fives free | Concession £9.00.
Don’t forget to retain your ticket and return for free on normal days for a whole year.
Here’s the schedule for Vintage Props Family Day, with everything that’s happening right here at the Museum.
09:45 – The Museum opens to visitors, enjoy a stroll around and explore.
10:30 – The Golden Era Vintage Run commences, with more than 60 classic veteran motorcycles, some more than 100 cars old, all departing from the museum to explore the countryside of the Yorkshire Wolds.
10:45 – York Vintage Dance Group teach us all some classic dance moves to the music of Mick Hull. Feel free to join in and learn some new moves.
10:45 – Museum Fire Services Competition – Everyone loves a fire engine. Try your hand and see how accurate you can be with one of the powerful fire hoses – parents may want to stand well back…
11:15 – 12:15 – Vintage Propellor Aircraft Come to Life – The Museum’s classic propellor aircraft come to life. Enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the WW1 SE5a, the tiny Eastchurch Kitten, classic De Havilland Devon and C47 Dakota and running their engines.
12:00 – More dancing and tunes from York Vintage Dance Group and the singing of Mick Hull – have you learned some new moves yet?
13:00 – The Golden Era Vintage Run motorcycles begin returning to the Museum, see than arrive through the main gate, then on display in the centre of the Museum throughout the afternoon.
14:00 – Time for more music. Sing awning and dance along with Mick and the York dancers.
14:00 – Museum Fire Services Competition – Everyone loves a fire engine. Try your hand and see how accurate you can be with one of the powerful fire hoses – parents may want to stand well back…
14:42 (estimated) – Eyes Skyward for The RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Flypast by the Hawker Hurricane – everyone loves the sound of a Rolls Royce Merlin
14:30 – Vintage Propellor Aircraft Back to Life – A second chance to see the museum’s classic vintage propellor aircraft running live in the museum. Enjoy the sights, smells and sounds of vintage propellor aircraft.
15:30 – The final performance by York Vintage Dance Group and Mick Hull’s singing. Have you perfected your classic dance moves yet?
* We love seeing everyone dressing up in their favourite vintage outfits. Where you’re an RAF person or simply love vintage clothing, you’re very welcome to show off your style. Military uniforms are welcome for Allied Forces – no German military for the day, thank you.
