Joint us for a celebration of Vintage propellor driven aircraft. Our collection of live piston engined aircraft will all be running live throughout the day, plus we will all enjoy flypasts by the Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Flight's Lancaster, Hurricane and Spitfire. Celebrating pioneering achievements of aviation and celebrating the 146th Anniversary of the birth of Orville Wright, our Pioneers of Aviation day will see some of our rarer and less celebrated aircraft taking centre stage, while the Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will be commemorating pioneers with a flypast by the Spitfire, Hurricane and Dakota. On Sunday 27th August, the live Cold War Jet aircraft resident at the Museum will once again be active and thundering down the vast two mile runway at Elvington airfield. Our Pathfinder airport rescue units are fully CAA certified

A great chance to meet emergency services from across the region as we commemorate the hard work of our emergency services. Our own in house fire and rescue team will be providing demonstrations of our huge Pathfinder machines as we celebrate the great work of the emergency services. Our annual gathering to remember the sacrifice of the British and Free French aircrews that served at Elvington during World War Two, together will those that have served to deliver the freedom we enjoy today.
