We have strictly limited quantities of this signed softback book. André Broch who died in 2009, was a French airman based at RAF Elvington during WWII. He was also a prolific artist, sculptor and poet, only now gaining recognition in France under the pseudonym of “Korine”, and this brand new book, brought together by his daughter Caroline, is a compilation, both in English and French, of her father’s work during the War through to the immediate post war era. It is full of pictures and poems befitting the period and a delightful snapshot into the lives and thoughts of a brave young airman, based at RAF Elvington, whose immediate future was rarely certain. The family lived near the famous town of Oradour sur Glane where the NAZI’s lined up and murdered 642 men, women and children on a sunny afternoon in June 1944 before burning down their entire town. The book includes a recognition of one of their neighbours who, as a young man was one of just a few who survived.
