Recently the press inaccurately reported that our event on Sunday 6th September was to be “The Elvington Air Show”. This is not true.
The 30th Allied Air Forces Memorial Day is an annual event with marchpasts, drumhead service and events marking the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain and the 70th anniversary of the two French Squadrons returning to liberated France.
There weill be flypasts by the Vulcan and a display by the WWll Spitfire flown by Charlie Brown. Ground engine runs by the Dakota, Sea Devon, SE5A and others will take place on the Museum site, but this is not an “air show” in the true meaning of the phrase.
