Over the forthccoming weekend, 11th and 12th August, the Large Model Association will be holding their model airshow on Elvington Airfield, adjacent to the Museum.
Last year, this event was held in conjunction with the Yorkshire Air Museum, but this arrangement is NOT in place this year. The model airshow is therefore a seperate event, taking place on the airfield itself, not on the Museum site.
However, dare we say it, visitors to the Museum will benefit from the magnificent displays by the owners of the large scale flying models – look out for the Victor (a real example of which can be seen at the Museum), the Vulcan and many more. Indeed, the distance between the Museum and the show itself makes the perspective from the Museum quite spectacular, particularly when a number of models are flying at once. Museum visitors will not however be able to access the show site itself, or any trade stands that might be found there.
More information about the model airshow can be found on the LMA website: www.largemodelassociation.com
We wish the organisers every success with the show!
