This Saturday, ‘early bird’ visitors or those hanging on until the end of the day, will be treated to the spectacle of some 22 vintage cars, all 100 or more years old, which will be taking part in the ‘Cobweb’ Run. The cars will be arriving just before the Museum opens at 10am, gathering for registration, before departing shortly afterwards for a run out of about 30 miles.
They will tour the local countryside, stopping off for lunch at a welcoming pub, before returning to the museum in the late afternoon, with the vehicles on display for a short time as the drivers and their passengers have some further refreshments. This will make a round trip of some 60 miles, with some vehicles, probably most, only being able to reach 10mph! Given that some of the cars are indeed driving to the museum initially, with a few coming on trailers, this is quite a feat for the intrepid drivers and their passengers!
There will no boubt be some fine examples of early motoring history taking part and at least 6 of the entries are eligible for the famous London to Brighton Run. Rolls Royce, Renault, Peugeot and Cadillac feature amongst the marques taking part.
So, if you are up and about, why not come along and enjoy seeing these superb nostalgic vehicles.
