As many of you will be aware, Vulcan XH558 suffered an operational problem yesterday with its front undercarriage locked in the down position. As a result, we regret that the aircraft will NOT be able to make its scheduled appearance at the Museum today for the Allied Air Forces Memorial Day. Whilst we are all disappointed with this, we wish the Vulcan team a safe return to Finningley today.
However, the Allied Air Forces Memorial Day will provide a great spectacle for the public to enjoy, with a range of aircraft engine starts, historic Spitfire flypast and the impressive Parade with 39 Standards being presented. The Parade will be made up of serving Royal Air Force personnel, Air Training Corps Cadets, members of various Service Associations, with a number of these being WWII veterans.
The parade will lead into the poignant Commemoration Service in the Main Display hangar, against the backdrop of the WWII Halifax bomber and culminates with the March Past, Salute and ‘Sunset Ceremony.
Admission is £10 Adults, £8 Concession and £5 Children. Family £26.
