Inspirations – STEM Education Challenge

Inspirations is a Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics Showcase and Challenge event aimed at GCSE project work in these disciplines, and also out of hours science / engineering and design clubs. Projects are entered on an individual or group basis, to be judged by a panel of experts. Winning projects will receive prize money and a trophy under the category they are entered and judged on. A great chance to see wonderful collection of pre-1931 Vintage motorcycles. An annual event, the owners of these machines still enjoy riding them regularly. This year, more than fifty classic motorcycles are registered for the event. Of the 55 entries, 14 machines are 100 years old or more, with the earliest example being a 1910 Douglas Model C, with this marque being joined by a 1914 Model U (original and un-restored) and a 1914 2&3/4 HP model. As the daylight hours grow shorter, it's time for our second night photo shoot opportunity of the year. This autumn the theme is Operation Granby / Desert Storm. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the commencement of operations in the first Gulf War. Remembrance Sunday

The unique Elvington Remembrance Service will take place from 11am on Sunday 13th November at the French Air Forces Memorial in Elvington Village followed by the service at the Yorkshire Air Museum Station Chapel at 13.30pm. Both are wreath-laying ceremonies. These Services give us chance to remember the sacrifice of so many allied aircrews of numerous nationalities, including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Belgium, Poland, amongst others, who flew with Fighter, Bomber, Coastal and Transport Commands of the Royal Air Force…
