What better way to enjoy the summer holidays than by experiencing the sight, sounds and unique aromas of our live aircraft fleet? Here’s an outline of the schedule for this summer’s Thunder Day.
10:00 Gates open.
Fire team activities – everyone loves a large fire engine. Here’s the children’s chance to try operating the large fire hose of the mighty Pathfinder. Adults, as ever, are jealous!
RAF Se5A & East Church Kitten – our classic biplanes will be running their engines alongside each other, it’s going to be a hot summers day, the breeze will be welcome.
De Havilland Devon – watch out for the clouds of oil smoke as she clears the cylinders when the propellors start turning.
Douglas Dakota – everyone loves the rumble of the C47 Dakota’s twin radial engines. This original parachute aircraft will be running once again.
Blackburn Buccaneer – after the Spring Thunder Day, our Buccaneer is back again. Have your cameras ready to capture her running through the routine of those folding wings.
Nimrod – the first of our two big four engined jets. The Nimrod team will be busy on board as the complex systems are tested.
Victor – our popular Victor XL231 will finish the day with those mighty jet engines. Everyone thinks that one engine is loud, but just wait until the crew start the other three..
