Golden Era Vintage Motorcycle Run
24th July 2016 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
A great chance to see wonderful collection of pre-1931 Vintage motorcycles. An annual event, the owners of these machines still enjoy riding them regularly.
This year, more than fifty classic motorcycles are registered for the event. Of the 55 entries, 14 machines are 100 years old or more, with the earliest example being a 1910 Douglas Model C, with this marque being joined by a 1914 Model U (original and un-restored) and a 1914 2&3/4 HP model.
The once famous Yorkshire make of Phelon & Moore,of Cleckheaton, is represented by a 1912 465cc example, very rare indeed. Another Yorkshire manufacturer, Scott (Shipley) is represented by 3 1929 Flying Squirrell’s and a 1930 Super Squirrell. A Scott Flying Squirrell engine can be seen in one of the museum’s real curiosities in the Mignet HM14 Pou-du- Ciel (Flying Flea) aircraft!
10:00 Museum gates open and motorcycles begin to depart for a Yorkshire road route trip. A great chance to see these old machines on the Yorkshire roads.
12:00 – 2:00 pm. The classic motorcycles arrive back at the Museum and are on display throughout the afternoon. A great chance to experience these old machines at close quarters and chat to the owners who lovingly maintain them.
2:00pm – 4:00 pm The motorcycles gradually depart for home
If you love the smell of mineral oil and the sound of old motorcycle exhausts, this date is one for your diary.
