This year’s Annual International Commemoration Day features a Parade of Service Standards, Drumhead Service and ‘Sunset’ Ceremony. Poignant and colourful gathering of veteran, current and trainee service personnel.
For visitors who have been following the progress of our new Mirage IV jet, the official dedication ceremony will take place at Allied Air Forces Day, when representatives from the French Air Force will be with us to officially hand over the Mirage IV and dedicate the aircraft to the Museum as a lasting memorial to both the French air crews who served at RSAF Elvington in wartime and also to the air crews of the many air forces who served during the dark, Cold War period of history.
Our annual event is to commemorate the sacrifice of Allied aircrews across the history of aviation and grows in importance each year. Everyone is welcome to attend the memorial service held in the main hangar as we commemorate the sacrifices made by aircrews across the history of military aviation. This short film of last year’s Memorial Day gives a flavour of this wonderful family event.
Please note: Memorial Day admission are £12 Adult, £10 Concession, £5 Child & £30 Family (2 Adults & 3 Children).
