999 Emergency Day

September 22

This year’s 999 Emergency Day is the third running of this great event and promises to be our biggest 999 Day yet. We will have more than 100 participants with us covering the entire spectrum of emergency services and rescue organisations, including our own in house fire and rescue team.

Normal Museum entrance applies. Admission Prices Are £28 Family pass for Two Adults and up to Three Children | £12 Adult | £5 Children 5-15 | Under Fives free | Concession £9.00

Here’s an overview of some of the amazing organisations who will be with us.

Police

No less than four of the regional Police organisations will be doing their very best to see who can make the most siren noise. You will find everything from traffic Police and high speed traffic cars to Crime Scene CSI teams all with us showing everyone the amazingly diverse range of work that our Police services undertake in today’s world.

Participating we have: West Yorkshire Police – Regional Scientific Support Services, North Yorkshire Police, Highways England Traffic Officer Service, Greater Manchester Police

Fire and Rescue

The Museum’s own in house fire team, with the magnificent Pathfinders and fast response six wheeled TCAR Range Rover

Aero Fire & Rescue Ltd, who provide support for helicopter operations,

Yorkshire Lowland Rescue provides trained search and rescue personnel to the Police to aid in the search and recovery of vulnerable missing persons.

Military Organisations

The British Army Cadets will be bringing along their climbing wall for visitors to try. If you’ve ever wished to experience a higher view of the Museum, then this is probably the most adventurous way to do it.

Environmental Services

Environment Agency will be talking about the huge subject of talking about the flood resilience, together with City of York Council Emergency Planning

British Divers Marine Life Rescue, an organisation dedicated to the rescue and well-being of all marine animals in distress around the UK

Medical Services

British Red Cross, without a doubt, the most well known of all medical charities.

Emergency Medical Transport, providing transport for medical transplant teams, blood donations and vital organ transfers.

NHS Blood and Transplant will be here, talking about the amazing work of medical transplant services and how you can help by giving blood and pledging organ donation.

Yorkshire Air Ambulance, operating helicopter emergency services across the north of England.
